Groundhoggers— We need your help!

One of the most frequent questions we get asked is, ‘What is the traditional Groundhog Day meal?’. We of course include the traditional groundhog cookie made from molasses as an important treat for Phil’s big day. The traditional groundhog cookie recipe started many years ago with Elaine Light, the past President of the Inner Circle -Sam Light’s wife.

She was also the author of many different cook books, which include: Gourmets & Groundhogs, The Second Helping, and Cooking with the Groundhog. These recipes included some of Punxsutawney residents’ favorite recipes, traditional German dishes, and much, much more.

The Inner Circle is going to be collecting her favorite recipes from the past cook books and combing them with some their favorite recipes of today!

This recipe book will be an eclectic compilation recipes mixed with the history of Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil.

How can you help?

Well, we have GHC members from all over the world and we would love to incorporate your favorite or traditional dishes from where ever you are from!

We will have the specific recipe form that you can fill out to participate! All contributors to the cookbook will receive a discount if they choose to purchase it! Three lucky contributors will be selected at random to receive a copy of the cookbook and some other great groundhog goodies!

We are very excited about this project and can’t wait to see all the great recipes we receive!

Please submit your recipe by Friday, September 15th! Make sure to include your name and where you are from.
