Parades are a staple for the summer time and patriotic season around the western PA area. Each small town has a parade to celebrate many different things. Whether it is the Fireman's Parade in Punxsy or the Laurel Festival in Brookville PA, each have their own special reason. Punxsutawney Phil gets invited to numerous parades around the area. Parades are very unique from other appearances that Phil makes. It is a great way for people to get to see Phil and the Inner Circle during the warm summer months then on the potentially blustery cold winter day, February 2nd. Attending a parades require planning and preparation. To get ready, the Inner Circle packs up the Groundhog Bus with all the needed Phil supplies and goodies for onlookers. During a parade the Inner Circle is adorned with top hats and Phil either rides along on the front or is held by one of his handlers. Parades are a great time for all!

How fun! Today (Feb 3) is my son's birthday. We didn't know if he was a boy or a girl so we just claled him The Groundhog and joked that if he was born and saw his shadow, he would try to go back underground for another six weeks. I'm relieved to say he was born on a cloudy day. Since then, all small children are goundhogs to me, and Groundhog Day is one of my favorite holidays. Thanks for your post.
