Cloe Lake is a 27-acre reservoir with a pier and easy-access shore fishing. Electric motors and unpowered boats only are permitted. The fish species: trout, bass, walleye, and bluegill. It is open year round and it is pet friendly.

One of the most popular landmarks in Punxsutawney and in Western PA is Gobbler’s Knob. It is the site of the annual Groundhog Day celebration and where Punxsutawney Phil makes his prediction every February 2nd. Thousands of visitors come to Gobbler’s Knob on Groundhog Day as well as throughout the rest of the year. The trail is ½ Mile in length with informational and educational signage as well as Metal Art Displays.

Hours: 7 Days a Week, Dawn to Dusk

The trail is 4/10 of a mile in length. Throughout the trail you will see informational signage. This signage includes information about the history of Groundhog Day, The Inner Circle, Punxsutawney Phil, and much more! The GHC would like to thank the generous sign sponsors.

There are also metal art displays along the trail. The metal art is created and donated by Jefferson County-DuBois Area Vocational-Technical School each year on Groundhog Day. Please do not climb on or play with the metal art.

The Visitor Center hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club is following all direction and recommendations from the Pennsylvania Departmet of Health and Governor. Masks or face coverings are required.

The Gobbler's Knob Wine Festival is an annual event held on the First Saturday in October every year. Over a dozen local and regional showcase their wines during the 2 session event. Tickets go on sale in August. Attendees enjoy wine tasting, an appearance from Punxsutawney Phil, appetizers, entertainment and much more! This is a must attend event!

A pottery store established in 2000 that features handmade work by Nancy Smeltzer.

The Mahoning Shadow Trail is a 15-mile reclaimed railroad-bed located in southern Jefferson County.  The beautiful wooded trail “shadows” the Mahoning Creek.  Except for a one-mile paved section that runs through the Punxsutawney Borough, the trail surface is crushed limestone.  The trail is open to pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. Maps are available at the Punxsy Chamber of Commerce & Souvenir Shop.

The first Phantastic Phil named “Phillage” made its debut on Groundhog Day 2004. This Phil is the only one to sport a top hat, part of the traditional dress of the caretakers of Punxsutawney Phil, the Groundhog Club Inner Circle. The Groundhog Club sponsored this Phil, which was painted by local artist Kelly Porada.
